H@ME Interiors was born
Monday, October 4th, 2010All this talk on this blog about home in Stansted, and I’m not even sure you’ve been filled in on how it started and where it all came from, I started my mirrors back in 1997, where it was actually called wylde antiques,in saffron Walden, a small shop, where I sold reproduction and genuine antiques bought from local auction houses and local homes. This kept me out of trouble, but I soon became bored with the shop sitting. And so I went into business with Alex Robinson, who had a small workshop Danilova Street Stansted Mountfitchet. This was in approximately a year after opening my shop. In 1997, Alex Robinson showed me the techniques for anything furniture and doing small restorations to antiques, with this information and skills. I’ve learned from Alex, I proceeded to restore furniture and veneer furniture for export to the US, it subsequently turned out that it was difficult to man the shop in saffron Walden. When I was restoring furniture in Stansted Mountfitchet. So I closed the shop in saffron Walden, and just stayed with the little shop in step Stansted Mountfitchet, formerly known as Peggy’s, this is where I have slowly built up over many years. More stock, and more customers for my wares, the company went over to be mine mirrors. When we decided to try and build a website back in that day. It was a very crude and difficult to work with website, we in fact, had hardly any sales from an early website.
The birth of my mirrors, exhibitions Ltd came from the grand design show. We did, and we had great expectations for. Unfortunately, none of which came about and left me in a lots of debt, learning from my mistakes,I carried on, and then the shop H@ME was born . This mark, we have trademarked as our own, and subsequently renamed our other premises the same. There is in fact, a lot more to this story, which I’m sure got to tell you that later date. As it is 5 to 6 now and it’s time to go home, and I’m sure Ollie needs a hand packing up……..the birth of H@ME Interiors came about on our new venture at 18 lower Street Stansted, where we took an old building and completely renovated it, with the new shop in mind. We had to come up with a nine that was sure and described what we did. I initially thought of the name @home after doing a few basic checks. I could see that this name was already taken by another company in our field… so I can continued thinking along the lines of using that @ symbol . So people got the impression we were Internet, as well as a shop, I wrote the name down and then did a survey with people. Ask them to read the name, as they saw it and I was pleasantly surprised to see it coming back as at home, because the I automatically sees the word home and then seized the symbol within it. Then on further checks. Honestly with the trademark governing body, and just general checks on the Internet. I was please find that this name had been taken. So I registered it as a trademark and took it on as a limited company name, in the meantime. Unfortunately, someone in Bury St Edmunds, took on my name and copied my shop H@ME, unfortunately for them are going to have to remove their sign as it is a trademark owned by my self. And if they’ve done their proper searches, they would have found this anyway. Moving on from this before I get all upset that someone copying me, which I should really take is a compliment.
The only problem with using the @ symbol , which I didn’t think about when thinking up the name, was what we are going to call it online, as is soon as you put the @ symbol in, it means it’s an e-mail address. So thinking of the website address was going to be a problem, oversleep people read it as home interiors, but obviously, the Internet name home interiors was going to be taken, so the best thing we could think of was calling it home Stansted on the meaning and name the shop and where we are. That is home Stansted was born….http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HkzW-QI4ZPU
